*BIG ANNOUNCEMENT*

NO THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE.

I have been patiently waiting to announce this publicly!! Exactly one year from today our lives will be changed by our most elaborate adventure yet. 1 year, 365 days, 8760 hours or 525600 minutes we will be setting off for a 6 MONTH ROAD TRIP AROUND THE USA!!!! There can not be enough exclamations for that statement. Jason, Phoenix and I have been working diligently planning and saving for this grand adventure. We will both be leaving our jobs, house and sadly the cats also to pursue the untamed freedom of the road and every hidden and not so hidden gems this gorgeous country has to offer. Bring on the backpacking, national parks, desert skies, forests, oceans, mountains, quirky roadside attractions, and my favorite the random people along the way that leave a life impression on you without even trying. I know it sounds scary and crazy to most, trust me quite a few people have been not so supportive of the idea but that has never stopped me before and wont now. Just makes me more determined πŸ˜‰ Ill be blogging the whole way about the saving, planning, what to pack, where to go, how to honestly keep it cheap, what its like to travel with a toddler and everything in between.

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.”

Side note: We had wanted it to be a USA and Canada road trip but turns out Canadians truly hate owi’s and the logistics behind getting a passport then going through Canada’s rehabilitation process was way to expensive and a headache. Sorry Canada but your off the list now. Yes I know I was wrong for drunk driving 7 years ago but have you ever heard of young and dumb.

“And then there is the most dangerous risk of all, the risk of spending your life not doing what you want on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.”

Trust me we aren’t keeping it dull till then there are several epic trips already planned for this year. Everyday is an adventure in this household we don’t depend on idea of tomorrow.

  1. AWESOME !!!! Sorry to hear Canada’s off the list…..we would have loved to welcome you here !! We’ve been cross US/Canada in 2011 for three month……..was way not enough time….so you’re good doing 6 month US πŸ˜‰ You’re gonna love it……was the best thing we ever did….and we’ve been around the world at lot. Was definitely an expensive experience, but worth every dime. One in a lifetime thing and so glad you’re getting to do it πŸ™‚ Can’t wait for all the blogs !!! I have tons of favs ….. but Mesa Verde, Sequoias & Redwoods, Bryce Canyon….I better stop, but I’m so excited just thinking back. If Canada should be on your list one day……don’t forget ….stop by πŸ™‚ !!

Thank you! We are open to suggestions on anything. We have all those places you mentioned on the list. My excitement is hard to contain somedays. We were extremely bummed to learn of how hard it really is to get across the border I completely understand why they do it but damn. Mine wouldnt be so bad to get around but my bf has 2 owi’s and that just made things too expensive. We much rather spend that money elsewhere. If we ever get the chance to get to Canada I would love to stop by and meet the brilliant family behind Restless Roots.

      1. Brilliant……wow, thanks so much !! Kind of funny…..that’s never the word that our families use to describe us πŸ˜‰
I totally get that you have to choose wisely what to spend your money on……a trip like that is the best thing you can do…..but also so incredibly expensive !! And even six month time will just fly by ….. and as far as I’m informed….Canada will stay put for quite a while, so you’ll have lots of time to visit another time πŸ˜‰
I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to read your awesome blogs…..will be like going with you on this trip πŸ™‚
